ABOUT US
Our Unit instructors have been working as a team for over 8 years. Together they have over 9 years of JROTC Instructor experience and over 45 years of active-duty experience. Our Cadet Company Staff for the 2017/2018 school year were hand-selected based on the demonstrated leadership skills they exhibited last school year.
How many people really want to be GREAT? In a society where mediocrity and average is so normal and accepted, why would anyone want to endure the pain it takes to be GREAT? Think about it, in order to be “Great”you must give a great effort, sacrifice a great deal, endure great pain, invest a great deal of time.
The Cadet's Creed:
I am a Navy JROTC Cadet

UNIT HISTORY
Green Run High School officially commissioned one of the first NJROTC Units in Virginia Beach, VA in 1989. At the time Green Run was one of the largest high schools in the state, educating a very diverse and talented group of students.
Now Green Run is one of the smallest in the State, hosting one of the smallest NJROTC Units in Area 5; currently sharing Virginia Beach with 4 other NJROTC Units (First Colonial, Landstown, Princess Anne, Salem).
Despite its size in comparison to other units, Green Run has won multiple State/Area 5 Championships and competed in numerous Navy National Championships; including the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 Virtual Navy Nationals Championships.
The unit has also been designated, several times, as a Naval Honor/ Distinguished Unit.

Naval Honor Unit
Awarded only to those units that demonstrated exceptional performance but did not qualify for Distinguished Unit status. Naval Honor Unit Awarded yearly to cadets who were unit members during the academic year in which the school earned Naval Honor School status. Awarded only to 20 percent of the NJROTC Units in the program.
